Helen has married the man of her dreams in Jackson Baring, a young professional on Wall Street. When Jackson takes her home to the family estate, Kilronan, she is overcome by the grand majesty of the place. There to meet her is Jackson's mother, Martha, who has held the estate together since her husband's death. But beneath Martha's refined Kentucky smile lurks a hidden agenda--to bring Jackson back to Kilronan to assume his birthright. However, Helen's plans for domestic bliss are in Martha's way and she becomes a puppet with her mother-in-law pulling the strings.
