VIDEO: ‘Chronicle’ director Max Landis retells ‘The Death of Superman’

What do you get when you ply "Chronicle" writer Max Landis with alcohol? A hilarious (and cameo-filled) cautionary tale about one of DC Comics' most infamous gaffes, the much derided "Death of Superman" story arc.

For those not up on their DC Comics history, all you need to know is that, back in 1992, the comics publisher killed off Superman in a highly publicized event. The events that followed the death of the the world's most recognizable superhero were some of the most ridiculous and laughable in the medium's history. And, by wacky comic book standards, that's really saying something.

"The Death and Return of Superman," Landis' curse-filled diatribe and accompanying no-budget reenactment of the story arc, features Mandy Moore as Lois Lane, Elijah Wood as Cyborg Superman, and a few other recognizable faces, in addition to Landis. The "Chronicle" scribe, who is the son of "Animal House" and "Blues Brothers" director John Landis, might just have a future in comedy. The elder Landis even makes a cameo in the video (sort of).
