Selena Gomez shows off mature look at ‘Spring Breakers’ premiere. But where was Justin Bieber?
With yesterday's premiere of "Spring Breakers" at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival, Selena Gomez has officially broken the mold of the typical Disney 'tween dream.
The "Love You Like a Love Song" singer and star of "Wizards of Waverly Place" surprised her fans by taking a starring role in the risqué film "Spring Breakers," in which she plays a bored, restaurant-robbing college student who gets bailed out of jail by a sketchy drug dealer (James Franco).

Dressed in a beautiful white Marchesa gown with a sheer lace top and exaggerated ruffle skirt, 20-year-old Gomez Gomez was mature, classy, and stunning at the "Spring Breakers" TIFF premiere on Friday. Joining her at Toronto's Ryerson University Theatre were director Harmony Korine and her co-stars Franco, Vanessa Hudgens ("High School Musical"), Ashley Benson ("Pretty Little Liars"), and Rachel Korine (wife of Harmony).
Gomez's more mature look goes along with her more mature role in "Spring Breakers," which the actress has warned her younger fans not to go see. Maybe that goes for her boyfriend, too, because Justin Bieber, Gomez's boo of over a year and half, was nowhere to be seen at the premiere.

As fans let out shrieks and sobs as they packed against the premiere's metal barricades, it was probably best for everyone that the 18-year-old prince of pop didn't show up to support his girlfriend's film, even if Toronto is only a couple of hours away from his hometown of Stratford, Ont.
In any case, Bieber was probably up to some super important -- or, dare we say, swaggy -- business befitting an international pop star, right? Well, maybe not. According to his Twitter feed, Bieber spent his Friday evening at his house "cookin some noodles" with One Direction's Niall Horan and Zayn Malik and music video director Alfredo Flores.
"Guys night in full effect @AlfredoFlores @zaynmalik @NiallOfficial!!" he wrote.
"chillin with the homies," he also posted, along with a photo of the three heartthrobs.
Flores later tweeted that the guys were actually doing a late-night video shoot for Bieber's next single from his sophomore album "Believe."
"On set. Night time shooting. Skunks running around everywhere. A few people have been sprayed already. #thuglife" Flores wrote.
All the noodle-cooking, guys' night-ing, video-shooting, and skunk-dodging must have kept Bieber pretty busy! Because his feed was empty of any shout-out to Gomez or the "Spring Breakers" crew.

With how beautiful Gomez looked on the red carpet, we find it hard to believe that Bieber would want to be anywhere else but by her side! With breakup rumours running rampant this summer, the two have been upping the PDA recently. But with Bieber's absence at TIFF, we'll have to wait and see if he fits in with Gomez's new grown-up image!
