Japanese ‘Avengers’ trailer is surprisingly easy to follow

Maybe it's just the voiceover guy yelling "AVENGERS" so enthusiastically, but there's something really fun about the Japanese trailer for the upcoming Marvel blockbuster. Yahoo! Japan posted a new trailer for Marvel's superhero ensemble "The Avengers" today, and it features a tonne of new scenes and dialogue, as well as a brief look at the impressive S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier.

(For those unfamiliar with the comic book source material, a helicarrier is a flying aircraft carrier. Hey, when the fate of Earth is at stake, the Avengers don't mess around.)

Take a look at the Japanese trailer for "The Avengers" below. And don't let the Japanese narration scare you off; all the dialogue is in English.

The trailer highlights some characters who haven't really had much screen time in the promotional material so far. Master archer Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) finally gets to speak, as does S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders). Viewers even get a quick glimpse of Tony Stark's aide Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) looking very concerned about something.

Speaking of Stark, actor Robert Downey Jr. continues to steal the show in these trailers. The film may be about the Marvel super team defending Earth from an invasion, but it's also very apparent that the film is a battle of superpowered egos and personalities. Cap, Thor, and the rest will have their work cut out for them as they fight the ever-charming genius -- both the character and the actor -- for screen time.

Director Joss Whedon's big-screen superhero epic is looking more and more promising with every bit of footage that gets released. Trailers have been misleading before, but "The Avengers" is beginning to look like the must-see blockbuster of the summer.

"The Avengers" will be released on May 4.

Judge in Trump's classified documents case cancels May trial date; no new date set
The federal judge in Florida presiding over the classified documents prosecution of former President Donald Trump has canceled the May 20 trial date, postponing it indefinitely. The order from U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon had been expected in light of still-unresolved issues in the case and because Trump is currently on trial in a separate case in Manhattan charging him in connection with hush money payments during the 2016 presidential election. The New York case involves several of the same lawyers representing him in the federal case in Florida.

Trump documents trial start delayed indefinitely, judge orders
Donald Trump's trial in Florida on charges of illegally keeping classified documents after leaving office has been indefinitely postponed, a judge decided on Tuesday, greatly reducing the odds he will face a jury in either of the two federal criminal cases against him before the Nov. 5 U.S. election. Trump, seeking to regain the presidency, previously had been scheduled to go to trial on May 20 in the documents case brought by Special Counsel Jack Smith, but the prosecution and defense had both acknowledged that date would need to be delayed. U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, who was appointed to the bench by Trump in 2020, said on Tuesday the trial would no longer begin May 20 but did not set a new date.

Judge delays Donald Trump's classified documents trial indefinitely
The judge overseeing former President Donald Trump's classified documents case has now indefinitely postponed the trial date pending resolution of outstanding pretrial litigation, including disagreements about how the classified information is used during trial. It comes as Judge Aileen Cannon has continued to delay various deadlines in the case, making it all but certain the case doesn't go to trial before Election Day. "The Court also determines that finalization of a trial date at this juncture—before resolution of the myriad and interconnected pre-trial and CIPA issues remaining and forthcoming—would be imprudent and inconsistent with the Court’s duty to fully and fairly consider the various pending pre-trial motions before the Court, critical CIPA issues, and additional pretrial and trial preparations necessary to present this case to a jury," Cannon wrote in a new order.

The U.S. FAA has opened another investigation into Boeing, which was already facing probes related to a Jan. 5 panel blowout on a 737 MAX.
