Channing Tatum parodies Van Damme’s epic splits (VIDEO)

By now you’ve probably seen that viral video of action legend Jean-Claude Van Damme performing his trademark “Epic Splits” between two moving eighteen wheelers. If you’ve somehow missed the video (which currently has nearly 37 million views on YouTube) in your recent online travels, where have you been?

Not to be outdone, “22 Jump Street” star Channing Tatum - or at least his undercover cop character Greg Jenko – attempts his own version of the “Epic Splits” in the first on-set video from the film, complete with serious voiceover and Enya soundtrack.

Unlike JCVD’s stunt, though, which was performed to demonstrate the capabilities of Volvo trucks, Tatum’s stunt was undertaken in order to “demonstrate the stability and precision of the food carts on the set of '22 Jump Street.'" Important stuff! In direct contradiction to the warnings usually issued with such risky stunts, the feat was carried out by “unprofessionals in an open unsupervised area” and ends as you might imagine it would: Poorly!

As anyone who has seen Channing Tatum's dance moves in "Step Up" and "Magic Mike" can confirm, the actor is generally a pretty flexible dude. Maybe no one can possibly top Van Damme's "Epic Splits," or maybe Tatum's just been spending too much time making action movies. The actor re-teams with his "21 Jump Street" co-star Jonah Hill and directors Phil Lord & Chris Miller for the upcoming sequel, set to hit theatres on June 13, 2014.
