TIFF 2013: Benedict Cumberbatch’s bow tie wins over fans

Despite many sartorial updates in the menswear department this fall, as Benedict Cumberbatch learned, fans are simply seeking a dapper gentleman when it comes to red carpet dressing.

Appearing in a slim cut suit and taut bow tie at "The Fifth Estate" premiere, which opened the Toronto International Film Festival Thursday night, the British actor received much acclaim. From audible red carpet gasps to caps lock on Twitter, there was much ado about Benny's buttoned up look.

BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH IS AT TIFF AND HE IS WEARING A BOW TIE. I REPEAT. HE IS WEARING A BOW TIE. THIS IS NOT A DRILL PEOPLE!!!!
— Haley Savage (@haleymsavage) September 5, 2013

To top off his attire, the actor - who wears a bleach blonde wig to play WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in the film - wore his dark hair gelled back neatly with an Old Hollywood-like flair. Compared to recent pics snapped in and around London, where he is currently filming his BBC series "Sherlock," Benedict also appears to have made a stop at the barber in his trip across the Atlantic. His coif appears to be much more trim.

No doubt this dashing gent has set the style bar high for the men of TIFF.
