Depp Ex Vanessa Paradis Makes Her Comeback at Cannes

If Vanessa Paradis is still hurting from her split from long-time love Johnny Depp, it certainly doesn't seem to be showing.

The French star was spotted at the 66th annual Cannes Film Festival rehearsing a new song from her album, titled -- what else -- "Love Song."

The singer, model and actress looked casually chic in dark fitted pants and loose jacket, her hair hidden beneath a cap.

Paradis seems to have thrown herself back into work. The 20-song double album "Love Songs" is clearly a topic that's been in the performer's thoughts.

Released on May 13, it is the singer's sixth studio album. Her single "Love Song" is very poppy and very French. The chorus, which she sings in English, goes in part: "Love, I don't know/Nothing about love, you know/Hold me till the day is done/All night long let's have some fun." (You can hear the song, which is mostly in French, here.)

Singing isn't the only talent Paradis has been focusing on lately.

The actress is also starring in a new movie. The upcoming comedy "Fading Gigolo," directed by John Turturro, features an impressive lineup that also includes Woody Allen, Sofia Vergara, and Liev Schreiber.

The French beauty plays a widow, hiding her wavy tresses under a traditional Orthodox Jewish wig, and adds this high-profile credit to her extensive film resumé.

For her first role, "Noce Blanche," the novice earned the 1990 Cesar award (French Oscar) for Most Promising Actress.

The multi-talented mother of two has been on the scene since she started singing at age 14 with a breakout single that topped the French music charts for 11 weeks.

Her public profile continued with a 14-year relationship with A-lister Depp until the two, who never married, announced their split in June 2012.

Us Weekly reported one reason for the couple's split: Depp's wild success as a mega superstar. A source told the magazine, "Vanessa started to feel like she'd sacrificed her career for his."

While Paradis has lost her partner, she's found focus in her profession, busy with her music and her acting.

The Chanel spokesmodel has hit the red carpet before heading to Cannes, showing up for a public appearance only a month after the breakup, looking radiant and OK about her single status.

Depp, for his part, has also moved on, reportedly dating Amber Heard, his co-star in "The Rum Diary." The two were seen canoodling at a surprise Rolling Stones concert in late April in Los Angeles.
