Bruce Willis Is ‘Bored’ With Doing Action Films

Say it ain't so, John McClane!

The spark seems to have gone out of the once-rousing exclamation of "Yippee-ki-yay" (you know the rest) as Bruce Willis has admitted that he's getting a little tired of the genre that made him a superstar.

"Explosions are one of the most boring parts of my job," said the 58-year-old star in an interview with Spanish magazine XLS, as reported by The Guardian. "When you have seen a few fireballs, it's not exciting anymore. I know part of my audience enjoys the explosions, but to be honest, I'm a bit bored of it now."

While this is somewhat distressing news, it's not necessarily surprising. Willis delivered a performance in his fifth John McClane outing that was widely regarded as phoned-in in the wretched "A Good Day to Die Hard," and comes across as simply going through the paces in other recent action flicks "Red 2," "G.I. Joe: Retaliation," and "The Expendables 2."

Willis is also noticeably bored with promoting his action films, as evidenced with his recent beyond-awkward "Red 2" interview with Britain's 105.4 Magic FM reporter Jamie Edwards.

"Has any actor ever told you this, James? This part is not acting, what we're doing right now," Willis said. "You might be, but we are just selling the film now. Sales. The fun part was making the movie."

(Was it Bruce? Was it?)

When Edwards tried to save face by asking, "How would you sell me the movie?," Willis simply replied with, "I wouldn't. I would slash my hooves."

Doing action movies isn't all bad for Willis, though: He certainly likes the paychecks that come with such gigs.

"I am very clear with who I am. I work in all sorts of films, but the action movies are the ones that generate the most revenue," said Willis to XLS. "I like to earn lots of money from those."

We already knew that, thanks to Willis's "Expendables" co-star Sylvester Stallone, who recently called out the "Die Hard" star for being "greedy and lazy." It was later reported that Willis was asking for a $1-million-per-day salary for "The Expendables 3."

Bruce, do you need a nap or something? Maybe a nice long vacation in Turks and Caicos? Get that mojo back, buddy!
